My name is Phi Phan. I’m a husband and a father of two kids. I have worked as a Software Engineer since 2006 after graduating from University. In my earlier career, I did most of my work in Microsoft .NET Framework. My journey with PHP and WordPress started in 2013 and I haven’t looked back since. I quit my fulltime job and started working as a freelance WordPress Developer in 2014. Since then, I have developed hundreds of WordPress projects by creating custom themes and custom plugins.
I have always opposed bloated premium themes or shortcode-based page builders. When Gutenberg came out, I loved it from the beginning. I tried to find a good solution to transform my workflow from developing custom classic themes with meta field frameworks such as CMB and ACF to building WordPress sites in the Gutenberg era. I have done many projects with custom Gutenberg blocks, and blocks based on ACF Block API. But I didn’t feel like that was the right way to do it. For me, Gutenberg is and will be a powerful page builder. It only lacks some advanced features to build real-world projects. I also don’t like new kinds of bloated-blocks page builders, so I decided to develop my own solution to build the missing pieces of Gutenberg. That is why I built CBB and MFB and a bunch of other plugins, all of them for Gutenberg.
Besides working, I like to travel with my family and watch sports. My favorite sports are MMA and Football (Soccer).
